In the latest trials carried out during the winter months, the Almeria-based company Vellsam Materias Bioactivas has managed to improve the sweetness and size of strawberries from Huelva by more than 25%. It has managed this through the application of Brixtoner and Plant Power 7-0-21.
For two months, the firm has carried out weekly applications of Brixtoner, which helps improve the Brix degrees, sugar level and color, and of Plant Power 7-0-21, which helps in improving the fruit's size. A total of 6,000 square meters have been treated.

After these trials were completed, the results obtained by Vellsam have been very satisfactory, as the strawberries with the 25% improvement in sweetness and size stood out from the rest.
The Almeria-based company had already achieved great results with the application of these two products in tomato crops. In its most recent tests, Vellsam helped the sugars from the photosynthesis make the journey from the production centers to the fruit in development thanks to the application of Brixtoner. This product, with its potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium and boron content, improves the fruit's ripening process, as well as the photosynthetic process in the leaves. The polysaccharides and organic matter have an influence in the fruits' soluble solids content, thereby improving the production and quality of the harvest.
Likewise, the latest tests carried out with Plant Power 7-0-21 resulted in an improvement in the crop's production and yield, a superior quality, coloration and caliber and a better fruit formation and consistency. NPK-based fertilizers, specific for the fruit's growing stage, are often used to obtain high yields.
