Cultivators, Vertify and World Horti Center continue ‘Cultivation for Compounds’

Netherlands-based organisations Cultivators, Vertify and World Horti Center are continuing the international research consortium 'Cultivation for Compounds', of which they are the joint initiators. The research will enter a new phase, with a focus on deepening the knowledge gained in the field of cannabis cultivation for active compounds.

Building on four years of research
The Cultivation for Compounds consortium originated in 2022. In addition to the founding parties, companies from all positions in the value chain joined the initiative. Until early 2026, they jointly conducted research into optimizing cannabis cultivation for active compounds. "This first phase has created a strong foundation on which we can build," says Sonny Moerenhout, Managing Partner at Cultivators. "We are now launching a second phase with more targeted, focused research, once again carried out in a practical setting. This will lead to new, practically applicable insights for the consortium partners."

New opportunities
Just like the first phase, the second phase of Cultivation for Compounds will take place at Vertify's research location in Honselersdijk. André van der Wurff, Business Unit Manager at Vertify: "We are pleased and proud to continue the research into active compounds in one of our cultivation compartments. Cultivation for Compounds has built a proven track record over the past four years. The new phase offers new opportunities for both existing and new partners. Each of them will have a say in the direction of our research."

More than research alone
Finally, Jim Koop, Creative Manager at World Horti Center, emphasizes the consortium encompasses more than research alone. "At World Horti Center, we have a dedicated Cultivation for Compounds theme square. Visitors from all over the world can explore the expertise of the participating partners and see the many diverse products that cannabis cultivation produces," says Koop. "In addition, Cultivation for Compounds organizes events and knowledge sessions, which we will continue in the new phase."

Next month, the first cultivation round of the second phase of Cultivation for Compounds is expected to begin. Companies interested in becoming a partner of the consortium can contact Jim Koop at World Horti Center ([email protected]).
