Israel: The 16th Solanaceae Conference (SOL 2019)

Last week, Hazera R&D and Marketing representatives attended the 16th Solanaceae Conference (SOL 2019), held this year in Jerusalem. This year, Hazera and Limagrain were proud to be major sponsors of the conference. The conference brought together leading scientists, students and plant breeders in a pleasant atmosphere that was conducive to sharing knowledge, expertise and formulating a vision of international collaboration.

Central topics at SOL 2019 were advances in the breeding and physiology of Solanaceae crops, with a focus on health, nutrition and yield. The program also dealt with Solanaceae genomics, diversity, metabolism, adaptation and much more. Cutting edge tools for linking genomes and phenotypes were also presented, with the aim of developing a road map for the next International SOL project (SOLII).

Representatives of Hazera attended the conference and were available for meetings and discussions at Hazera’s attractive booth. These representatives included R&D experts: Shai Koussevitzky – Project Lead Pre-Breeding Tomato; Mariela Faure Mlynski – Project Lead Pre-Breeding Tomato; Liran Yadgary – Project Lead Tomato Genetics; Shai Nashilevitz – Tomato Breeder and Netta Doitch – Tomato Breeder. Hazera’s Marketing department was represented by Yaron Giras – Tomato Global Product Manager.

At the conclusion of the conference, all of them agreed that it was indeed enriching and interesting, providing both relevant information and significant insights into research and development, as well as innovation – both in scientific and marketing terms.'
