Position Summary
Harts Nursery is seeking a dynamic Assistant Sales Manager to manage customer relationships, coordinate product selection and presentation, and oversee office operations such as invoicing, routing, and EDI capabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong plant knowledge and expertise to support product selection and growth, along with proficiency in software like Excel and PICAS for planning, sales, and operations. This role will evolve over the next 1-2 years, offering significant career growth potential, including opportunities for professional development and promotion.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage relationships with customers, oversee sales and operations, and make informed decisions on product mixes and combinations.
Possess knowledge of annuals and perennials, including their characteristics and how they work in combinations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for data management and presentations.
Understand the seasonal nature of the nursery business and adapt to fluctuations.
Familiarity with PICAS software for invoicing and ordering, with training provided if needed.
Exhibit strong customer service skills and the ability to build relationships with key customers.
Demonstrate a passion for plants and the nursery industry.

Requirements

Mandatory horticulture experience.
Knowledge of perennials and annual flowers is a plus.
Greenhouse and nursery experience are advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with moderate use of Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with PICAS software is a plus but not mandatory.
Fast learner with strong relationship management skills.
Experience in a small company is mandatory.
Experience working for a family-owned company is a plus.
Company Size
Harts Nursery typically has 45 to 60 employees, but during peak season, the team can expand to as many as 90 to 100 employees.
