Turkey: Engineer grows greenhouse tomatoes in bags

An engineer, Ergin Inal, in Antalya has managed to successfully grow tomatoes in bags in his greenhouse. The grower had previously managed to grow green pepper in bags and now moved on to tomato production.

The grower first filled the bags with perlite and then planted 16 tomato seedlings in each one. Ergin Inal grew a total of 9,600 seedlings in 600 bags in a greenhouse of 1,500 square meters. The grower has been experimenting with different production methods in his 4,000 square meter greenhouse and focusing on research and development with an innovative spirit.

Grower Ergin Inal: “We are experimenting with different products and production methods continuously. Previously we had managed to grow green pepper and now we have grown tomatoes from domestic tomato seedlings. We have not used any chemicals in the process. Our goal was to grow organic products and we have succeeded in it. Another goal was high productivity, and we have achieved that as well since we will receive at least 5 kilograms of products from each seedling.”
