Luiten Greenhouses pays extra attention to light at Dutch strawberry grower:

More light and cooler crops with powder coated screen installation

Light is everything for a greenhouse grower. For this reason Luiten Greenhouses paid special attention to the recent installation of a screen system at Dutch strawberry grower Scheffers-De Jong in Oisterwijk.

For their 1.6 hectare new greenhouse, Luiten installed horizontal screen facilities in two sections and the rolling facades in the front and side walls. By mounting the screen installation slightly lower than normal, less shade is created on the crop when the installations are opened. This allows the grower to make the most of the outdoor light.

As well as this, Luiten's installations have been white powder coated, just like the greenhouse structure. White structures do not only reflect more light to the crop, but they also claim to be slightly cooler than a galvanized greenhouse in the summer.

Luiten Greenhouses powder coated the shafts, shaft sleeves, engines, screen boards and screen seals near the hanging cloth. Even the seals of the facades have been whitened.
