Vertical farming modules bring the products to the consumer, because it is possible to recreate any kind of climate environment inside with technology. It’s more comfortable to work and its almost unlimited possibilities of automation normally demand less workforce to maintain than a traditional system. This leads to a fresh, local product, free of pesticides and respectful of the environment. LED lighting with a customizable spectrum, climate control and fertigation equipment, allow a significant increase in production.
Vertical cultivation is already in use for the cultivation of leafy vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, spinach, aromatic plants) because it’s possible to collect the harvest every 4-5 weeks. This system is starting to be introduced in the cultivation of other fruits and vegetable varieties and even flowers.
