Duijndam Machines breaks ground for new 10,000 m² facility in the Netherlands

Dutch horticultural machinery dealer Duijndam Machines officially broke ground on 17 April 2026 for a new facility at Zwedenlaan 10 in Hazerswoude-Dorp, in the Netherlands. The investment marks a significant step in the family company's continued growth.

The ground-breaking ceremony was carried out by the three brothers and directors, Robbert, Maurijn and Reinier Duijndam, who jointly operated the pile driver in the presence of staff, family and friends. The new building will cover approximately 10,000 m² on a 20,000 m² plot, with completion scheduled for the end of May 2027.

The new facility is a response to growing demand for online search and purchasing of machinery for processing vegetables, fruit, flowers and plants. The additional space will allow the company to expand its product range. Alongside its established position in used machinery, Duijndam Machines intends to grow its offering of new machines and strengthen its role as a sales broker for complex and specialised installations. The company will draw on its international network, website and marketing channels to connect buyers and sellers effectively.

The current premises at Tweede Tochtweg in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel have become too small to accommodate the company's growth and are expected to be vacated in the course of 2027.

"I am immensely proud that we are taking this step together as brothers and building the future of our company," said Robbert Duijndam.

The investment reflects the company's ambition to develop what it describes as the most complete machinery offering in Europe for the horticultural sector. Duijndam Machines is also currently looking to recruit a new salesperson, preferably French-speaking, to strengthen its team.

The occasion had a personal dimension as well: Robbert Duijndam recently became the father of a daughter, Sammie, whose name was inscribed on the first pile.
