A new greenhouse for banana production has been launched in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, in the village of Shamshi, Otyrar district, according to the regional administration. Bananas are grown on an area of 0.03 hectares. The greenhouse is equipped with modern control systems to support production.
The project follows the earlier experience of banana cultivation in the region and represents a further expansion of exotic fruit production. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, annual banana production in Kazakhstan reaches up to 1,000 tonnes. There are plans to increase the output of bananas and other exotic fruits, including lemons.
