A grant will help install a new greenhouse in Saranac for agricultural education.

Saranac Future Farmers of America (FFA) received a $50,000 grant aimed at enriching agricultural education in the community, according to a news release. The grant will support the construction of a new greenhouse.

Ted Paton, associate superintendent of CTE at Ionia County Intermediate School District, oversees career and technical education programs at the Ionia County Career Center and in Belding and Saranac. Paton worked on the grant with Saranac agricultural instructors Susann Young and Tracy Dahms, and Saranac Jr./Sr. High School Principal Josh Leader.

"We deeply appreciate the support and investment in our agricultural education initiatives," Paton said. "This grant will allow the Saranac CTE Ag program to expand our educational offerings, empowering students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the agricultural industry."
