Ukraine: 40 hectare of greenhouses supported by grants

The initial impact of the Ukrainian Orchard and Greenhouse Grant Program, effective in 2022, is expected to become evident as early as spring 2024, according to Taras Vysotskyi, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. Following the implementation of this program, it is anticipated that prices for fruits, berries, and vegetables will witness a noticeable decrease.

Vysotskyi highlighted that Ukrainian farmers have received a substantial investment of more than 15 million euros, which will be directed towards establishing approximately 2,000 hectares of new orchards, berry gardens, and vineyards, as well as the construction of around 40 hectares of modern greenhouses.

This significant financial support is aimed at fostering intensive agricultural production, with plans to generate more than 1,200 permanent jobs and over 17,600 seasonal positions.

Among the most commonly established orchards and berry gardens are those featuring blackberries, apple trees, and walnuts. In addition to these, cucumbers and tomatoes have emerged as highly popular vegetables. Importantly, Vysotskyi emphasized that this grant program covers a wide spectrum of crops, including garden strawberries, raspberries, grapes, sea buckthorn, plums, cherries, and hazelnuts, all well-suited to Ukraine's climatic conditions. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the grant program facilitates the cultivation not only of vegetables but also berries, flowers, and salads in greenhouses.
