During Cultivate 2023, the team of Klasmann-Deilmann Americas presents a range of new developments to the American market.

Advanced Substrates: High performing, reliable, sustainable
This new Advanced product line combines valuable raw materials into blends with a reduced carbon footprint. Premium alternative constituents such as GreenFibre® wood fibre, Shakti Cocos® coir, perlite, and others are used alongside peat to boost essential characteristics in the substrate. Klasmann-Deilmann produces all these constituents in its own facilities. "Our ADVANCED Substrates are the result of decades of research, development, and experience in growing media. They stand for best raw materials and highest quality substrates while using more sustainable resources for the environment and climate", says Dr. Sebastian Kipp, Head of Advisory.

Growcoon: Established innovation for sustainable propagation
Growcoon has already been firmly established as an effective growing system in horticulture for some years. Used in propagation trays, the fully biodegradable, biopolymer-based propagation pot with an open net structure holds the loose-filled substrate together and forms a stable root ball. Young plants can thus be transplanted or dispatched more quickly while shortening propagation time and reducing crop failures. Many growers have implemented this innovative product in their cultivation due to these major benefits.

Nygaia: The substrate of the future
The Nygaia substrate fibre is a brand-new growing media innovation. The high-tech solution for propagation in controlled conditions is especially interesting for young plant cultivation in hydroponics and vertical farming. Nygaia is inert, free of salts, holds water, and supports root growth optimally. Made from fully biodegradable and bio-based raw materials, it degrades completely during composting and leaves no residue behind. In 2023, the Nygaia substrate fibre will be introduced with test quantities to pilot customers. Regular production starts in 2024.
