Farmers in Tboung Khmum Province successfully cultivated and harvested greenhouse crops. This is a major achievement for farmers who were able to safely raise vegetables despite the heavy rainfall that has been experienced throughout the country.
Farmers expressed their happiness as they were able to raise their crops without fear of pests and the torrential rain that was experienced over the previous month and this month.
The greenhouse method of vegetable farming is a fairly recent practice that was adopted by Cambodian farmers as part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s investment into raising the productivity of farmers and encouraging sustainable farming.
A farmer from the province told the national radio station that he was able to raise his crops successfully and is in the process of harvesting them. He stated that growing vegetables in greenhouses is cost-effective and safer than growing them out in the fields.
