Dutchman put Dool France on the map

Jacco de Graaf is a Dutchman who knows the French horticulture like the back of his hand. Jacco has been living and working in France for 20 years now, at the moment in Angers. He has been in touch with TC van den Dool for years through his former employer at a horticultural supplier and greenhouse constructor.

As a new employee, he recently started to put SAS Dool France on the map even more than it already was. “French horticulture is moving at full pace. The standard for greenhouses has been increasing over the past few years. The areas used are getting bigger and, as is to be expected, there already are quite a few semi-closed greenhouses. Besides French growers, foreign growers and investors also seem to be taking notice of France much more.”

French focus
Jacco sees plenty of opportunities for Dool France. The ‘French’ focus will mainly aim to increase and renovate the greenhouses and build smaller projects and intricate projects. “Rooftop greenhouses, garden centers, testing stations, and smaller greenhouses require custom work, which is exactly what we can offer. We have both the knowledge and experience.” Together with Ad Kokshoorn, Jacco will cater to the French horticultural market.

In France, the demand for greenhouse vegetables is growing. There is minimal export of these products. The area used for greenhouse horticulture is growing. Besides the already existing horticultural areas such as Bretagne, Loire-Atlantique, the area around Orléans, Rhone valley, the area around Perpignan, and Lot-et-Garonne, large projects in Normandy and on the Bordeaux coast have been in the works for the past couple of years.

Jacco decides: "I’m looking forward to it. It will all work out.”
