Did you ever wish you could pack up your aquaponics system and just take it with you wherever you went? A new invention doesn't quite do that, but it comes very close.
Conor Quinlan is the owner and founder of a brand new Start-Up Company called EPIC GrowTech in the United States. He's just announced his first product on Kickstarter, which is a small scale, 100% Natural Organic, Aquaponic System for hobbyists and backyard growers called the EPIC AquaGrow.
The system was designed by utilizing aquaponic based research and experimentation collected over the past 5-years during Conor's time at the University of Arizona as a Graduate Student as well as during his first position, as Lead System Engineer, with Stuppy Greenhouses. At Stuppy one of his major projects involved the creation and experimentation of a class room scale Aquaponic System called the Aqueduct, the purpose of which was to teach students the benefits of aquaponics by utilizing the system within a hands on curriculum.
"The Aqueduct was a very beneficial learning experience for over 2.5 years that enabled me to create an almost 'maintenance free' aquaponic system that can grow any crop desired, using the included extras, for a Full Year (at least)", Conor explains. "These extras include patented Supplemental Nutrient, pH & Pest Management Blends. The system also includes Decorative Koi Fingerlings (3-4”), 40 L Bag of Expanded Clay Media, Fresh Water Test Kit, Net, Fish Feed and more."
He adds: "The research allowed me to determine how the bio-chemical processes of aquaponics were correlated with the important aquaponic parameters I wanted to control. Precisely blended formulas were created in this manner to provide the system with ideal and consistent water quality parameters that requires little attention from the user and produce the highest quality crops."
