The current survey of the Federal Institute for Vocational Training shows an increase in the number of new contracts for the profession of 'grower'. Within the framework of the International Green Week (IGW) in Berlin, the Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V. (ZVG) from 18 to 27 January 2019 there were numerous pupils with exciting workshops from the gardener profession.
In the 2018/2019 apprenticeship year, the profession of grower is again the strongest agricultural profession in terms of numbers, with 5,309 new contracts (+ 0.7% in comparison to the previous year). This emerges from the current survey of the Federal Institute for Vocational Training. But the shortage of skilled workers does not stop at horticulture.
"In the coming years, the need for horticultural professionals will continue to increase. Reasons for this are the higher, partly changed professional requirements and the progressive demographic change. With our new recruitment campaign 'Grower. Grown for the future', this is exactly where we start."
As part of the IGW, more than 500 students in grades 7 to 13 take part in the ZVG's exciting workshops. Green businesses, trainees and institutions support the actions to give an authentic image of the grower professio.
