Every year, Macquarie Dictionary picks the word of the year for Australia. For 2018, 'vertical farming' was one of the nominees - a sign that this modern form of agriculture is entering mainstream consciousness, although it didn't win. That honor was for 'me too', while 'single-use' got the people's vote for word of the year.
