Ontario Cannabis Store clears order backlog

Since October 17, the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) has received over 220,000 customer orders and has worked 24/7 to get orders out to customers. While initially faced with a backlog in fulfilling and shipping orders to customers, the OCS has now caught up on all orders received and is focused on continuing to improve its retail experience for customers.

“The OCS appreciates customers’ patience over the last few weeks as we worked collaboratively with licensed producers to resolve the initial challenges of launching a new business,” said Patrick Ford, President and Chief Executive Officer of the OCS. “Now with the backlog of orders cleared, we are moving forward and returning to our 1-3 business day delivery expectation. Our top priority is to continuously improve the customer retail experience for the many Ontarians that are buying safe, quality recreational cannabis products from the OCS.”

In the immediate weeks after federal legalization, the OCS was faced with a backlog of orders that were delayed in delivery to customers due to labelling issues with several products the OCS received from licensed producers, and to rotating Canada Post strikes. While initial labelling issues have been resolved with licensed producers, ongoing rotating postal strikes may continue to delay deliveries to some customers.

The OCS is working closely with licensed producers to expand the assortment of recreational cannabis products available through OCS.ca and ensure product availability.
