At the World Horti Center (WHC) in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands, German drive technology specialist Lock Drives has opened a permanent demonstration stand featuring two greenhouse structures: a Cabrio greenhouse and a Venlo greenhouse. The stand gives visitors the opportunity to see Lock's solutions in operation and to operate the controls themselves. Products on display include tube motors, ventilation motors, and the digital control system SBE.

Drive technology
The opening coincided with German Beer Day (Tag des Deutschen Bieres), on 23 April, a date the German company used to mark the occasion informally at the WHC, which is located in the heart of the Dutch greenhouse industry.
Once a greenhouse is operational, drive systems tend to be less visible, despite playing an essential role in daily operations. Robin Heuser, project manager at Lock for the Dutch greenhouse construction sector, explains the motivation behind the stand: "Our solutions are unique and of very high quality. That only becomes clear when you experience them. That is why we wanted to be able to give a live demonstration of a large part of our applications, close to our office."

Easy does it
Among the products installed in the demonstration greenhouse is the LSC 40, which can be fitted in just two clicks, in line with the company's "Easy does it" strategy. Also on show are the EWA 5-series motors, notable for their low noise levels during operation.
Visitors to the stand can interact with the products directly and receive an on-the-spot demonstration. "That gives people a great deal of confidence and insight into how Lock's solutions work," says Heuser.

Management system
Alongside the mechanical drive technology, the stand also showcases SBE, Lock's greenhouse management system. SBE gives growers insight into the climate conditions within their greenhouse. The system uses smart solutions to control various components across the operation from a device of the user's choice. It is also an open platform, meaning it can be connected to other business systems.

The demonstration stand will be updated continuously with new products and applications. Visits are welcome during the WHC's regular opening hours, and appointments can also be arranged. "We want to keep surprising visitors with Lock's latest applications," Heuser concludes.
