66% of the fresh fruits and vegetables that Spain imported from January to October 2024 came from third countries and the remaining 34% from the EU. Spanish fresh fruit and vegetable imports from third countries amounted to 2,696 million euros and from the EU to 1,390 million euros. Imports from non-EU countries grew by 12% and from the EU by 13%.
Morocco is Spain's leading supplier with 801 million euros up to October 2024, i.e. 13% more than in the same period the previous year. It is followed by Peru with 501 million euros (+22%), and France with 426 million euros (+22%).
Portugal ranked fourth, with 350 million euros and a 19% year-on-year growth, and the Netherlands -the only main supplier to experience a decrease in sales (-3%), ranked fifth with 205 million euros, according to the latest data from the Customs and Excise Department, processed by Fepex updated up to October 2024.
Spain's fruit and vegetable import value up to October stood at 4,087 million euros (+12%).
The volume stood at 3.5 million tons (+7%). A total of 1.8 million tons were imported from non-EU countries and 1.7 million tons came from the EU.
