Special Year Overview: Much more than 10 photo report

From Turkey to Vietnam, from Canada to Kazakhstan, from New York to Germany. 2023 was full of exhibitions again, and on this final day of the year we invite you to look back upon the many different trade shows organized in the horticultural industry, and captured by our team of editors.

See you next year!

Photo report: Fruit Logistica 2023

Buckle up. It's picture time. Last week Fruit Logistica took place in Berlin. We've prepared a photo report of the trade show. Although some familiar faces were missing, the horticultural sector was again well represented at Fruit Logistica in Berlin. The new greenhouse technology hall 3.1 attracted quite some visitors, although there weren't enough greenhouse suppliers to fill the hall completely, resulting in a somewhat weird mixture of companies every now and then.

Photo report HortiContact

HortiContact 2023 has come to an end last week. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 14 to 16 February, the trade show took place at the Evenementenhal in Gorinchem. Over the years, the fair has become gradually more international, both in terms of exhibitors and visitors. In total, there were 300 exhibitors present, and we took at least as many pictures.

Photo report: Indoor AgCon 2023

After a successful two-day trade fair, the Indoor AgCon closed its doors on February 28. With a proper balance between CEA players, cannabis-, greenhouse- or vertical farm companies, the show has welcomed more than 1500 visitors. The exhibitor floor was mainly occupied by suppliers and visited by either farmers, investors, and interested parties.

Photo report: HortEx Vietnam 2023

Last week March 1 to 3, Ho Chi Minh City hosted the HortEx Vietnam 2023 exhibition. Vietnam's horticulture industry has a promising future. The country has a population of almost 98 million with a steadily growing economy.

Photo report: Third time's a charm for GreenTech Americas

Organizing a trade show in normal times can be quite challenging. Doing so during a pandemic can feel like a nightmare. However, the team at GreenTech Americas rose to the occasion and successfully hosted the third edition of their fair in Queretaro, Mexico last week.

Being the first edition after the pandemic, the fair attracted a higher number of exhibitors and visitors, demonstrating the potential of the Mexican and North American markets, as well as the challenges facing the industry.

"Exhibitors and visitors satisfied with IPM Essen 2023 edition"

Last January, IPM Essen took place, welcoming 1,338 exhibitors from 46 nations on an area of 105,000m2 at the Messe Essen in Germany. But how was the exhibition compared to pre-covid years?

Ready, set, pictures: GreenTech photo report is here

After a week of reporting on visitors, exhibitors, innovations, and robots that pick up all the veggies (but not quite yet), it's now time to let that all aside and focus on what really matters. Pictures! In our photo report, you'll find around 600 photos from the GreenTech 2023.

The photo report of the Indoor AgTech

There's no doubt that the CEA sector is going through a lot these days, but there was barely a sign of that at the Indoor AgTech. When asking around on the exhibitor floor, numerous projects came by. Various greenhouse and vertical farming companies set their eyes on the North American market, and without a doubt, there are many opportunities to be reaped.

Photo report: Planting seeds for the future at Kazakhstan greenhouse show

The exhibitors at the horticultural trade show in Almaty, Kazakhstan, believe in the potential of the Kazakhstan market but also see that it's not happening at full pace yet. "We're planting seeds to see them grow soon," said Olga Danilova with Hortilux.

Photo report: Protected Cropping Australia 2023 Conference wraps up a successful event

The biggest-ever Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) conference has wrapped up in Brisbane after presentations from around 80 speakers throughout the four-day event.

Photo report: Cultivate in 200+ photos

It's summertime at HortiDaily, but before we take our annual break, we want to share the Cultivate photo report with you. The event and trade show took place earlier this week, and as we've mentioned earlier, there's a lot going on in North America. The trade show also functions as one of the meeting places for growers and suppliers.

Photo report: British Tomato Conference

Not a single tomato could be found at the British Tomato Conference, which took place yesterday in Warwickshire. There was no decorative British tomato flag, no new varieties shown by breeders, and even the lunch was completely tomato-free. This is exemplary of how the fear of the Rugose virus has changed the industry. And, as was shared during the conference, it's not the only challenge British tomato growers have had and continue to deal with.

Photo report: Canadian Greenhouse Conference 2023

The Canadian Greenhouse Conference took place in Niagara Falls last week. Over two hundred exhibitors showcased their products, and many more companies had people walking around the fair, visiting growers in the region and exploring the market. The conference is combined with an extensive speaker program, a bus tour, and various evening events, making it one of the most important gatherings in the North American greenhouse market.

Photo report: Growers and suppliers present at IFPA 2023

Purple tomatoes, more convenience products, an expansion of sustainable packaging options, the appearance of vertical farm booths, and the recent acquisitions in the produce industry. It’s a small impression of what happened at the Global Produce & Floral Show in Anaheim, California, this past Friday and Saturday. It was the first time in four years the show returned to California. More than 1,160 companies exhibited, and the event brought attendees from more than 60 countries together, of which several greenhouse growers, vertical farming companies, and suppliers of both industries.

Photo report: German berry industry meets at ExpoSE

The European berry industry might be under pressure due to inflation, cost increases, and other challenges, but the berry trade shows ExpoSE/ExpoDirekt remained well visited. The 27th edition of the show focussing on the berry and asparagus market, once again attracted many trade visitors from near and far to Karlsruhe. Exhibitors mention valuable talks and meetings, and the Berry Symposium organized during the show also attracted more than enough visitors to call it a succes.

Photo report: GrowTech 2023, Antalya, Turkey

Turkey has been a significant exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables. Over the years, the country has seen an increase in the export of products like tomatoes, peppers, citrus fruits, and others. The horticulture sector has witnessed advancements in technology and farming practices. Modernization efforts, including the use of greenhouse cultivation and precision agriculture techniques, have aimed to improve efficiency and yield. Last week's GrowTech showed an industry that's continuously developing, with innovations in terms of irrigation, propagation, and breeding being high in focus of growers. At the same time, the fluctuating but seemingly immer-decreasing exchange rate of the Turkish lira affects the growth potential of the Turkish horticultural industry.
