IPM Essen event analysis

"Exhibitors and visitors satisfied with IPM Essen 2023 edition"

Last January, IPM Essen took place, welcoming 1,338 exhibitors from 46 nations on an area of 105,000m2 at the Messe Essen in Germany. But how was the exhibition compared to pre-covid years? The organization conducted a survey and recently released the results. In this article, we will highlight several points, but in this link, the complete analysis of IPM Essen 2023 is available.

Fewer exhibitors
This year, the number of exhibitors was lower than in 2020, when there were 1,538 exhibitors from 45 nations. When talking with the exhibitors at the show, we heard that the challenging months in the run-up to the show regarding the energy prices made some (large) companies decide to skip a year.

Fewer visitors
Also, the number of visitors was lower compared to 2020. This year, IPM Essen welcomed 40,059 visitors, of which 38,377 were trade visitors, whereas, in 2020, the show welcomed 54,097 visitors, of which 50,239 were trade visitors.

Exhibitors and visitors satisfied
Despite the lower number of exhibitors and visitors, the exhibitors and visitors were very pleased. All in all, the organization is very pleased. 94% of the exhibitors were overall (completely) satisfied with the result of the participation, and 93% of the trade visitors recommended the visit to others and planned to visit again. "It shows that the IPM Essen is and remains the world's leading trade fair for horticulture." The organization says.
