GROOF project
The Groof project, part of the Interreg North West Europe (NWE) program, is a research project with the objective of investigating synergies between the construction and agriculture sectors by building four greenhouses on the roofs of four European cities, reducing their carbon footprint and discovering their benefits and challenges.
Led by the CDEC (Council for the Economic Development of the Construction Sector) in Luxembourg, it brings together eleven partners from five countries (France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and Luxembourg) who each bring valuable skills and knowledge such as construction process and methodology, building energy management, urban agriculture development, knowledge of plants and growing systems, entrepreneurship, socio-economic skills.
The Energy Globe Award is a global environmental award that recognizes outstanding sustainability projects and initiatives from around the world. In total, participants from over 180 nations have participated with projects in all categories.
The Energy Globe Award is organized by the independent Austrian Energy Globe Foundation. "It is an honor to see GROOF's hard work and dedication to sustainable energy solutions recognized on such a prestigious platform. As we continue to face the pressing challenges of climate change, it is inspiring to see European projects like GROOF leading the way in developing innovative and sustainable solutions", the team says.
