Greenhouse tomato production area in Kahramanmaras, Türkiye reaches 100 hectares

High-quality tomatoes are produced in the Kadioglu district, which is about 30 kilometers from Kahramanmaras city center.

The greenhouses established by a group of growers have now reached an area of 1100 hectares with the support of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Food, and Livestock. While the production of tomatoes in the Kadioglu District continues to increase each year, tomatoes that were sent to Kahramanmaras and surrounding cities in the early days are now on the world market.

In the neighborhood, state-supported greenhouses were re-established in place of the greenhouses that were destroyed due to heavy snowfall last year, and a yield of 15,000 tons is expected in terms of production. Tomatoes with good flavor and quality, produced by the farmers in the greenhouses, are bought by the wholesalers at the beginning of the field and marketed to the city center and the surrounding provinces.

Dogan Gungor, who produces tomatoes in the region of approximately 200 farmers, said, “We live in the Kadioglu farm. We have a greenhouse of 100 hectares here where we produce tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, peppers, and eggplants. In general, we send the tomatoes we produce to the eastern cities and surrounding provinces. We harvest around 15 tons of tomatoes per 1,000 square meters.”
