New geothermal greenhouse completed in Sandıklı, Turkey

A new greenhouse of 104,000 square meters in the Sandıklı region of Afyon is completed and has started tomato production with geothermal energy sources.

Investments in geothermal greenhouse cultivation are increasing in Turkey. The country ranks 7th in the world and 1st in Europe in terms of geothermal energy resources. Sandıklı is famous for its geothermal resources in Turkey and has started to become an attraction for those who are interested in investing in greenhouses.

Koyuncu Group became one of the investors of the famous geothermal greenhouses in Sandıklı. With the contract signed between Gengroup and Koyuncu Group in April, the process of installation of the greenhouse started with leveling works of the area. The project is designed on a total area of 140.000 square meters and completed in a short period of time by Gengroup Agricultural Investments.

The first seedling planting of the project took place on the 22nd of November. Gengroup Agricultural Investments Chairman of the Board Mr. Gökhan Gösterişli and Koyuncu Group Agriculture Group President Ms. Merve Turgut had participated in the first planting of the greenhouse.

The aim is to produce 6 million kilograms of tomatoes annually in the greenhouse, which has become one of the largest greenhouses in the region. Thanks to the location of the greenhouse, where the first harvest will take place in the first months of 2022, it is intended to continue production for 4 seasons. "With the experience of Genfog Fogging Systems, Pride Irrigation Solutions, Gentech Gutter Systems, Genfan Circulation Fans, and Greencon Greenhouse Systems for construction within the body of Gengroup, the newly established greenhouse has been prepared with an infrastructure that can be the leader in modern tomato production of the region," the team concludes.
