"Finetuning the cultivation strategy further"

Third round of cucumbers with new LED fixture

Ary de Jong has learned one important lesson from trials with the new LED fixture already: the graph for absolute humidity must be turned on. He recently started the third round of cucumbers, an illuminated winter crop with full LED Climalux lamps, the CLX V1000, as HortiTech shares on LinkedIn, as there is still a lot to learn and to fine-tune.

The Climalux fixture is a 'full-spectrum' light fixture equipped with a fan, which helps cool the lamp and pushes the air vertically from top to bottom, thus creating a constant air movement in the greenhouse. "This is different from the traditional method of cultivation that you still often see today," Ary told us earlier this year. "This fixture requires a different way of growing, I am discovering that now. I am confronted with many new things and you could even say that, despite my growing experience, I am actually quite similar to the growers HortiTech usually focuses on in its training courses."
