Proplant selects Heliospectra LED tech for greenhouse expansion

Proplant Propagation Services has recently invested in LED lighting technology from Heliospectra. As part of their on-going efforts to enhance production efficiency and plant quality, Proplant has selected Heliospectra's MITRA X LED fixtures for their 6 Acre greenhouse expansion project, currently under construction by Havecon. The MITRA X fixtures offer Proplant the capability to precisely manage and regulate light levels, ensuring optimal conditions for plant growth and development. This strategic investment underscores Proplant's commitment to providing superior quality plants to meet the meticulous standards of the North American market. The MITRA X LED fixtures are available in 650-, 800-, and 1500-watt variants with different spectrums of 40, 60, 80 and 90% red. Far-red can be added either as a fixed part of the spectrum or with the 3-channel MITRA X Flex fixture for independent control. Depending on the spectrum, these fixtures can reach an efficacy of up to 3.8 μmol/J. Working closely with the client and Gold Leaf Technologies, Heliospectra's authorized distributor for Canada, Bonny Heeren, CEO of Heliospectra, emphasizes the collaborative effort to tailor the lighting solution specifically for young plants.

The implementation of HelioCORE made Proplant eligible for additional horticultural lighting incentives, significantly lowering their project costs.

To highlight the reasons for choosing the LED solution from Heliospectra, one of the owners of Proplant, Paul Berkel, had the following comment: "The form factor of the lights and being able to mount them in a split configuration improved the light distribution significantly. He continued, "We also liked the fact that HelioCORE was able to integrate with our climate computer and allows us to dim the fixtures without having to run additional wiring."

With the wireless HelioCORE system, Proplant and other operators have the flexibility to create customized lighting zones as each fixture can be controlled individually, adjust light settings according to specific requirements, and even integrate local weather forecasts through the DLI controller for optimal energy management. Heeren highlights the modular design of the MITRA X system, which allows for adaptable configurations to suit various client setups. "By utilizing top-tier components for both the LEDs and power supply, Heliospectra ensures an optimal balance between cost-effectiveness, photon efficiency, spectrum precision, and overall product quality. This strategic approach positions Proplant to achieve unparalleled performance and yield in their cultivation operations." Heliospectra will be exhibiting at GreenTech, Amsterdam.
