Afghanistan: Investment support lasts in construction of greenhouses in Balkh

A project of the Ministry of Agriculture of Afghanistan continues to support private sector investments in creating greenhouses for vegetable production in Balkh province.

In the most recent case, the construction of a large commercial greenhouse for non-seasonal vegetables was completed and put into operation by the Ministry of Agriculture with a 30% private sector investment and a 70% financing.

The greenhouse was built by the Ministry of Agriculture through the SNaPP-2 Second National Priority Support Program.

The area of the greenhouse is 270 square meters, the cost of building the greenhouse is 523,474 Afghanis. The greenhouse was built with the financial and technical cooperation of the Second National Priority Support Program and the private investment of an agricultural entrepreneur in Naward Ufa Malek village in Balkh district.

According to the business plan, the cultivation plan of the greenhouse has been prepared according to the needs of the market and it has the capacity to produce non-seasonal vegetables three times a year.

The project is one of the hundreds of greenhouses that the Ministry of Agriculture builds.
