until that time Marien will grow tomatoes for another year

Netherlands: Koppert Cress to expand again in 2021

Koppert Cress, the cress grower from Monster, will acquire the greenhouse from tomato grower Marien Verkade from 1 February 2021. The agreement was reached on Tuesday 10 November.

Both growers signed a contract in which VOF M. Verkade and Koppert agree that on 1 February 2021 the company belonging to Verkade at De Poel 6-8 in Monster will be transferred to Koppert Cress.

Until then, Marien Verkade takes the time to grow tomatoes for one more year and to finalize matters. Koppert Cress will use the nursery as a replacement and extension for the "Maasdijk 196" location, which the company will vacate in mid-2021.

5 hectares of greenhouse
Marien and Diana Verkade’s tomato production company covers more than 5 hectares, of which 4 hectares are in culture, and it dates from 2006. For Koppert Cress, the nursery is at a good location, close to the principal location. With this purchase, the total acreage of the company will reach more than 15 ha, available for the production of cresses and edible flowers and leaves.
