Turkey: Smart greenhouse built in Sivas for vegetable production

The smart greenhouse built in the Hafik district of Sivas has officially been opened with a ceremony. The greenhouse is 0.7-hectares big and will be used mainly for parsley production. The production planning indicates that the grower will be able to produce 10 months of the year. This smart greenhouse is first of its kind in the city and equipped with a computer-automated irrigation system, high-tech fertilization, and acclimatization system and remote monitoring functions.

The initial investment cost for the greenhouse, including the construction and purchase of the greenhouse materials is around 300.000 USD and partially funded by the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Governor Salih Ayhan: “We believe our city has tremendous potential for greenhouse production and we hope this smart greenhouse initiative will set an example for the other growers in the region to modernize their production facilities.”
