Ioppi aims at improving product traceability

"Despite the rather unfavorable weather and fluctuating market prices, the first quarter of 2019 was positive. Our turnover increased with respect to the same quarter last year, meaning commercialization increased too," explains Luca Tardera, sales manager at"OP Ioppì".

"The company grew both on the domestic and northern European markets and we signed new contracts. Prices were higher in March, also thanks to the care we put into cultivating high-quality produce and we expect demand to increase over the next few months

The company's flagship products are small tomatoes (cherry, date and mini-plum), round smooth tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, aubergines (oblong, round, purple, streaked), courgettes, peppers, early and late white and red table grapes.

The PO gathers 105 businesses covering over 300 hectares and volumes exceed a turnover of €26 million.

"We are implementing our traceability systems to guarantee increased transparency also thanks to a new software that enables the geolocation of production companies and the monitoring of the pesticides used for integrated pest management."

"We are also working with our partners to plan the varieties to transplant taking both technical and economic aspects into consideration."

The PO has always cared about sustainability and has been focusing on using pesticides correctly to safeguard the health of the environment, operators and final consumers. Another objective is to find new associates/producers who want to grow and embrace the company philosophy to keep up with the time. Ioppì has in fact enabled the aggregation of small and large companies providing them with the opportunity of being competitive.

The PO will attend Macfrut 2019 with its own 30 sq m stall (no. 52 in Hall D4). Sales managers from the three leading cooperatives part of Ioppì will take part: Luca Tardera for Coop. Contrade, Mario Incardona for Coop. Gold Green and Fabio Alessandrello for Ortonatura.

"This year, we will have a brand new corporate image. Taking part in this event is an occasion to compare ourselves with all the other businesses and meet clients and suppliers in the same place."
