The Almería-based first-degree cooperative Vicasol is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with the launch of 'Vicasol 3', the company's most technologically-advanced logistics branch. The step has required a total investment of more than 26 million Euro.
Located in El Ejido, 'Vicasol 3' is ready to create up to 900 jobs and to house an organic line.
In addition to packaging facilities, it also has a gas station, a supply warehouse, a store and a cafeteria, as reported by the firm in a statement.
The cooperative's new facilities have more than 125,000 square meters, which will make it possible to handle more than 100 million kilos of products, both conventional and organic.
According to the president of Vicasol, Juan Antonio González, the cooperative has planned the creation of this new logistics branch with the aim of "getting closer to its partners in the area and make it easier for them to deliver their harvests."
With Vicasol 3, the first-degree cooperative already has four branches located in La Puebla de Vícar (Vícar), La Mojonera, Campohermoso (Níjar) and now El Ejido. Currently, Vicasol is formed by almost one thousand agricultural partners and 2,500 workers.
