Ortomec, a company capable of adapting its machinery to the various needs of its clients in different countries with completely different soils, has launched the new Herbex II lamb's lettuce harvester.
"The new system harvests plants via metal shafts that lift, clean and take the produce from the soil to the conveyor. The machine is available in the electrical or combustion engine versions as well as with tracks or wheels, so it can be used both in open fields or in greenhouses. What is more, it is quick and clean," explains Nicola Gallo, sales manager and co-founder of the company.
"The system is easy to use and does not damage leaves. It adapts to all kinds of soil and needs little maintenance. The shaft movement prevents stones from getting stuck and crumbles clumps when working on dry soil."
At Fruit Logistica, Ortomec presented the electrical version of the new Herbex II model with a stainless steel frame. The tractor-led version and the models complete with bin harvesting systems will become available in October.
