"Demand for folding containers has been rising steadily in recent years," reports Gerold Wilms, who coordinates bekuplast GmbH's producer, dealer and pool companies. At Fruit Logistica 2019, the company presented many different containers, but there was a special focus on the "Clever-Fresh-Box advance" series. These are collapsible transport containers: "When folded, the Clever-Fresh-Box advance volume is reduced by up to 84%. The boxes can be unfolded and collapsed automatically and at lightning speed, making them ideal for automated processes."
Folding containers are currently indispensable in fresh food logistics. In times of rising price pressure, foldable containers offer many advantages: After use, the empty containers are simply folded up. The volume reduction saves space during the return trip, which has a positive effect on transport costs. At the same time, this benefits the environment because fewer transports also mean a reduction in climate-damaging exhaust gases.
The bekuplast company was founded in 1985 and initially produced containers for flower bulbs. In the following years, the product range was continuously expanded. At the beginning of the 90s, the first series of folding containers was developed with a large pool service provider. "Since then these boxes are one of our specialties and we are still leading the way in this area." Accordingly, the machinery of the company is strongly focused on the efficient production of these special containers.

The container manufacturer bekuplast from Ringe, Lower Saxony, specializes in reusable transport packaging made of plastic.
