Bert Strikkers, Alumat Zeeman:

"Cooperation is crucial for the future of the industry"

World population will grow by 1 billion within the next 6 years. This incredible raising will surely challenge the agri-food industry with regards to the supply chains. Customers will be more careful about the food healthiness and safety. This will occur especially in Asia, where the richer middle-class is already demanding for healthier and safer food. Therefore, the demand for crop protections will definitely increase in the years to come. "As one of the biggest food exporters and greenhouse specialists, the Netherlands will have a key role in the industry’s further developments", Bert Strikkers with Alumat Zeeman is convinced of.

The whole international supply chain will participate in Fruit Logistica 2019. On this occasion, experts and operators will discuss the most pressing issues in the industry, such as seed breeding, cultivation technology, harvest technology, packaging, conservation and distribution.

These challenges are surely too big to be handled by one company, industry or country only. Cooperation is the key to the solution. “Especially for the Netherlands cooperation is critical for the greenhouse builders and the supplying industry, because this industry is very fragmented in our country” according to Bert Strikkers, director of Alumat Zeeman. “The projects become bigger and bigger, there are more projects especially far away from the Netherlands. This requires sufficient realization capacity, that we can bring to the table if we work together intensively”.

A short film made by Alumat Zeeman to foster cooperation within the industry

In order to facilitate the sharing of ideas and solutions, together with other companies from the sector, Alumat Zeeman has organised a dinner meeting where all players from growers to retailers can network. This is the perfect occasion to start or reinforce cooperation and to discuss future challenges and opportunities.
