On Friday, 28 December, ZON sold its first pickles of the new season. Impex Heemskerk from the Netherlands bought these first pickles. They paid EUR6.65 per kg for them. "The demand for pickles is increasing", says Arjan Heemskerk. "We are one of the larger daily buyers of pickles at the ZON auction."
"Pickles' popularity is on the rise. We sell them mainly to German wholesale markets. We do this in combination with daily fresh Belgian products as well as our own imports from Spain and France. By using our own fleet, we are very strong in the German Ruhr region."
