Nowadays, there’s a lot of choice in the field of snack vegetables, but snack tomatoes have received the most attention. Yet snack cucumbers and snack bell peppers have also gained popularity in recent years. Will these vegetables take over supermarket shelves in the next few years?


Flavor drives specialty tomato breeding business
At its Woodland, CA field days, Sakata Seed America mainly showed field crops including melons, watermelons, beets and squash. However, a section of the field was dedicated to a greenhouse where customers were able to see the company’s specialty tomatoes.

Ushio America has announced the release of the NaOClean Electrolyzed Water (E-Water) System for commercial, on-site and indoor use to enhance plant growth and potentially suppress certain diseases and plant microbes including powdery mold and mildew.

Greenyard to sell horticultural division
Today the Belgium company Greenyard has signed a share purchase agreement with Belgium investment fund Straco to sell its Horticulture segment for EUR 120 million. The horticultural segment is known for its growbags, primarily sold under the Peltracom brand.
