Red and yellow are the colors of the exhibition

Macfrut 2019: First Greenhouse Technology Village shows greenhouse cultivation

The exhibition halls of Rimini Fiera will be renewed on the occasion of the 36th edition of Macfrut, which will take place from 8 to 10 May 2019. The design of the exhibition center will feature the colors of the two main fruits, the red of the "Mela Rossa Cuneo PGI" and the yellow of the pineapple. The apple will be the symbol of the event as it is the product par excellence of Piedmont, the region that is a partner of the 2019 edition, while the pineapple will be the protagonist of the second edition of the Tropical Fruit Congress, the international congress dedicated to the exotic fruit.

Greenhouse Technology Village
The exhibition space, which spans more than 55,000 m² and is divided into eight exhibition halls, is also enriched by a novelty: the Greenhouse Technology Village, an area dedicated to greenhouses, which will be located between the halls at the east entrance. The project arises from the fact that within protected horticulture technology, both software and hardware plays a fundamental role in the management of production and management processes. The benefits of a better use of natural resources are becoming increasingly important as greenhouse crops are able to optimize water consumption and the use of chemical fertilizers, while also reducing the impact on the environment thanks to reduced use of pesticides.

Greenhouse Village

Eleven industries are represented by the exhibitors and they cover the entire fruit and vegetable production chain: seed, breeding & crop production, technologies for production, production, trade and distribution, machinery and technologies for post-harvest, materials & packaging, fresh-cut products, dried fruit, logistics, services. For the 2018 edition, the exhibitor companies were subdivided as follows: 38% belonged to the sectors "production, trade and distribution" and fresh-cut products; 28% on post-harvest technologies and machinery; 14% of pre-harvest technologies and machinery, 12% for breeding and crop production, 8% for logistics and services.

Exhibitors from all areas
As far as the profile of the visitors is concerned, it is largely the same as that of the exhibitors: 37% came from the production and fresh-cut sectors, 26% from the post-harvest and packaging technologies, 17% from the seed sector, crop production and production technologies, 12% from trade and distribution, 8% from logistics and services.

Macfrut 2019 will be very content-heavy. Acqua Campus and Macfrut Field Solution will be the two dynamic areas dedicated to pre-harvesting: the first will feature irrigation innovations, the second will feature the most advanced technologies for the fruit and vegetable sector on a 700m2 sample field. The Tropical Fruit Congress and the Table Grape Meeting will be the two top events in the convention program, with the first focusing on emerging products such as lime, papaya and passion fruit, and the second will be dedicated to Italian and international speakers. Greenhouse Technology Village will be the big novelty, showing the latest innovations in the field of technologies, materials and resources, seeds and crop production.

The promotional campaign is already in full swing and visitors can take advantage of a Early Booking discount rate until the 31st of December.
