PGI La Cañada's Raf tomato in Madrid's Salon de Gourmets

Raf tomatoes, the flagship product of the PGI Tomate La Cañada, will delight the palates of the public attending Madrid's Salon de Gourmets thanks to the recipes proposed by four great chefs from the province of Almeria: José Álvarez, of Restaurant 'La Costa', with a Michelin star; Antonio Carmona, of 'Terraza Carmona'; Marcos Quintero, of Grupo Lamarca, and Jesús Sánchez, gastronomic consultant. The chefs will participate in three showcookings taking place on the stand of 'Sabores Almería' on 24, 25 and 26 April.

The Provincial Council, which promotes the brand 'Sabores Almería' and is backing 34 companies from the province attending Madrid's Salon de Gourmets, has been the chosen venue for the presentation of the three showcookings proposed by the PGI Tomate La Cañada.

The Deputy for Agriculture of Almeria, María López Asensio, explained that the PGI Tomate La Cañada consists of eight companies: Coprohníjar, Vegacañada, Parque Nat. SCA, Biosabor, Agroponiente, Casur, Luis Andújar and Costa de Níjar, and stressed that the Salon de Gourmets "is a meeting of companies supplying the highest quality in the market, so the tomatoes of La Cañada, a delicatessen product in terms of flavour and quality, could not miss the occasion."

López Asensio stated that this gastronomic fair is an opportunity "to make La Cañada tomatoes known for their taste and health benefits", as well as to contact other entrepreneurs in the sector.

Francisco López, president of the PGI Tomate La Cañada, said that this product "had to be present at this fair, not only because it is a delicatessen with a great taste, but also because of how healthy they are thanks to their high content of lycopene (a potent antioxidant) and tocopherols, with plenty of vitamin D."

The president of the PGI Tomate de La Cañada has assured that "the spectacular creations prepared for the fair will delight the palates of the visitors and will keep the taste of Almeria in their memory."
