Are the VeggieTales characters cannibals?

If you grew up in the 90s, you may remember the Christian programme, VeggieTales, which taught valuable lessons to kids around the world. While the show carries wholesome themes, the internet is having an entertaining debate about whether the VeggieTales put their morals where their mouth is.

If you watched as a child it may have slipped past you, but after noticing it, it can be difficult to see the childlike joy the show once gave when seeing the characters practising vegetable cannibalism.

Multiple times in the show, characters are seen eating vegetables - like tomatoes, lettuce and potatoes - which has people asking, are the VeggieTales characters cannibals? A silly question, sure, but has that ever stopped the internet before?
