US (NY): Landfill-fueled tomato greenhouse makes the cut

A proposed tomato-growing operation fueled by decomposing Franklin County trash was again endorsed by the North Country Regional Development Council.

The $1.2 million proposal, offered up for a second time by the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, made the list of 23 proposals submitted to the state for approval when the region's economic-development priorities were announced.

The facility would be situated in the Town of Westville at the Franklin County Solid Waste Management Authority landfill.
