Water scarcity, specifically in agriculture, is a problem. Especially in extremely dry and arid areas, like Port Augusta, situated in South Australia. How to make something out of nothing? That’s the question a team of international scientists, based in outback South Australia since 2010, have been thinking about.15,000 tons of tomatoes without use of fossil energy
The solution to make something out of nothing is the Sundrop System: making use of the natural resources of seawater and sunlight. By means of solar power, the sun’s warmth is used to take the salt out of seawater and bring heat, cooling and power to the growers, which results in delicious fruits and vegetables. Growing positive food, which is positive for the planet, people and business. By harnessing the sun’s energy, Sundrop will produce over 15,000 tons of tomatoes in its state-of-the-art greenhouse in Port Augusta.Sundrop Farms

Van der Hoeven, who builds ‘horticultural projects with IQ’, has been building many unique horticultural projects, both nationally as internationally. The company is therefore very pleased to build this new Corporate Social Responsibility project in Southern Australia.
