Dutch investigation into illicit pesticide trade

The Intelligence and Investigation Agency (IOD) of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), led by the Public Prosecutor's Office, has started an onsite search at two business locations in the South of the country. Both locations belonging to a single firm were combed as part of a larger investigation into illegal trade in non-authorized pesticides. This week samples were taken from shipments containing suspected illegal pesticides.

It is the second time in two weeks that businesses are searched for the possession of illegal crop protection products. Authorities suspect that the aforementioned companies were importing from China, subsequently depositing the shipments in Europe. The NVWA IOD has seized the company’s administration and a large amount of suspected illegal pesticides.
