The pepper market in Almeria province has experienced a clear decline over the past month. From March 7 to April 7, 2026, auction prices have notably declined across most varieties, especially red peppers.
Based on daily quotation data compiled by Hortoinfo, the red Lamuyo pepper experienced the largest decline, dropping 51.84%, followed by the red California pepper, which fell 49.16% in the same period.
Green Lamuyo prices dropped by 17.9%, from 2.29 euros per kilo to 1.88 euros per kilo. Meanwhile, red Lamuyo experienced a much steeper decline, falling from an average of 3.26 euros per kilo on March 7 to 1.57 euros a month later.
Green California pepper prices dropped by 29.52% to 1.17 euros per kilo, down from the initial 1.66 euros. Meanwhile, the red California variety has decreased from 2.38 to 1.21 euros per kilo, making it one of the varieties most affected by the price drop.
Yellow California peppers showed a more stable trend, with a slight 4.06% decrease, from 1.97 to 1.89 euros per kilo, remaining largely unchanged throughout the period analyzed.
In contrast to this general trend, Italian pepper prices increased by 58.5%, rising from 2 euros per kilo to 3.17 euros in a month.
The data, derived from daily Almeria auction quotations, shows varied behavior among different varieties, with a noticeable trend of prices falling, particularly for red peppers, while Italian types mainly experienced increases.
