Expansion of greenhouse tomato production in North Ossetia, Russia

By 2026, greenhouse tomato production in North Ossetia is expected to increase to 19,000 tons, thanks to a new greenhouse complex spanning 60.2 hectares being constructed by TK "Alania."

In 2023, the region produced 14.8 tons of greenhouse tomatoes. The new complex will fully meet the region's demand and ensure year-round supplies to other regions. The project will involve an investment of 154 million euros. The project was initially expected to be completed by 2024.

However, according to "Agroinvestor," the market is currently saturated with domestic tomatoes, with additional pressure from imports. The main competitor to "Alania" will be "Eco-Culture," the largest tomato producer in the region. The source notes that tomato prices will decrease due to increased production, making "Alania's" project risky given the high investments and seasonal price fluctuations.
