CAN (BC): Province increases minimum wage

B.C. is increasing the provincial minimum wage rate from $16.75 to $17.40 effective June 1, 2024. More information can be found on the Government of BC website.

This rate applies to both Canadian and foreign workers. Employers submitting Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) to Service Canada for workers arriving in June should use the new minimum wage rate on the application.

Please note that employers must pay foreign workers (TFWs) whichever is greater: the rate set by Service Canada in the National Commodity List (NCL) or the B.C. minimum wage.
