Ambitious greenhouse vegetable grower expands at ZON

"I hope to grow 20 hectares by 2026."

Oostheullaan Horticulture has recently joined ZON as a new greenhouse vegetable grower. Entrepreneur Rayif Ayyildiz is quite ambitious. He has been the owner of his own employment agency, Intrixo, for 25 years and has also owned Kwekerij Poeldijk since 2021. Through the latter, he became a member of ZON. Recently, another cultivation company has been added under his name, named Oostheullaan Horticulture. Together, the two cultivation companies cover approximately 8 hectares.

By 2026, Rayif hopes to expand to 20 hectares. "The gas crisis has held us back a bit, but I now think it's achievable again. In terms of energy, we are focusing on geothermal energy in combination with a CHP installation, which we see as the future."

At Oostheullaan, they cultivate block peppers, known as Red Wings, which are marketed under contract through ZON. Kwekerij Poeldijk focuses on various vegetables to spread risks. "Currently, we have peppers and cucumbers, and tomatoes will be added in the future."

Chicory farm LOF also joins ZON.
