NL: "Land prices at Agriport skyrocket following the arrival of data centers"

The arrival of data centers for Google and Microsoft has skyrocketed land prices at the Agriport business park in the municipality of Hollands Kroon. But why did only the project developer benefit from this? That's the question Arne Bongenaar poses in the Financial Times.

According to him, the answers to this question are important for spatial challenges across the Netherlands, writes the project developer ahead of a discussion in the Hollands Kroon city council on Thursday, April 18. There, the council will deliberate on the findings of a recent report on the matter.

Bongenaar believes that the study overlooked 'important issues.' According to him, the biggest omission relates to the organization of land development. The municipality decided to exclusively deal with developer Agriport A7 BV (and a number of related parties). According to Bongenaar, this created a monopoly position for the party.
