In Atibaia, São Paulo, known as the National Strawberry Capital, producers are set to initiate planting of the 'phoenix,' a new strawberry species, later this month. The Fênix strawberry, developed by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) across several Brazilian locations, is a variety aimed at enhancing yield within the country.
Having undergone extensive testing over the last five years, including successful adaptation trials in Atibaia, the city's producers have received thousands of seedlings for planting. This initiative aligns with the objective of leveraging the phoenix's adaptability to Brazilian conditions to increase strawberry yields.
