European patent granted for flame-retardant groundcover

The flame-retardant groundcover by Thrace NG, a member of Thrace Group, has been granted a European patent by the European Patent Office (EPO). "This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our relentless pursuit of eco-friendly solutions for farmers and growers. Notably, this patent is valid in 17 European countries, further solidifying its significance," says George Papagiannis of Thrace NG about the achievement.

According to Thrace NG, their white flame-retardant halogen-free groundcover fabric has exceptional qualities that make it indispensable in agricultural operations. "Tests at Thrace Greenhouses have proven the fabric's durability, retaining 70-85% of its initial tensile strength after 3 years and 60-70% after 7 years. It also optimizes photosynthesis, reflecting 70-75% of wavelengths within the visible spectrum back to the plants' canopy. And enhanced safety and savings, with the flame-retardant fabric serving as a crucial safety measure for growers."
